RADU RODIDEAL: DISCLOSURE OF ROMANCE

November 21 - December 18, 2019 Anaid Art Gallery Berlin

"The mind is confused, the feelings never." - Robert Schuman

The new series of artworks on display signed by Radu Rodideal will gather 15 (fifteen) paintings, created in the last year. Radu Rodideal is interested in the theme of romanticism in art and in the way of how romanticism can be reproduced and reinterpreted today, in a society, where the absence of feelings has become a norm. In romanticism, the feelings triggered the drama, they were a product of rivalry and jealousy, an idealization of the other. After the sexual revolution of the 1960s, romanticism becomes something "outdated", feelings fade in the face of the sexual freedom, of the carnal desire.

"Disclosure of Romance" is intended to be a careful examination of the contemporary relationships through the lens of the individual troubled by love, passion, desire, betrayal, deception, duplicity, secrecy, revenge, and possessiveness. Rodideal paints the whole interior struggle within a stylized figurative form contoured by clear lines, as a contrast of shapes and colors.
