ALINA ALDEA: Allogenic Site: Altes Dampfbad, Marktplatz 13, 76530 Baden-Baden

 

The contemporary artist women Alina Aldea is set to unveil an immersive site specific installation in the framework of the solo show entitled “Allogenic Site” at the historic Altes Dampfbad in Baden-Baden. The solo show “Allogenic Site”, curator Diana Dochia, PhD, which opens on Friday, 05^th July 2024, between 17:00 – 21:00 o’clock, will run until 14^th July 2024, offering an experience that explores the boundaries of the artistic expression that blends organic and synthetic elements. "Allogenic Site" features a site specific installation and a series of drawings created for this solo show and presented for the first time to the general public. The exhibition could be visited from Tuesday to Friday from 13:00 until 18:00 o’clock and Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 until 17:00 o’clock. The solo show “Allogenic Site” signed by Alina Aldea is the second pop-up exhibition of Anaid Art Gallery in Baden-Baden, in the framework of the anniversary year "20 years of Anaid Art Gallery 2004 - 2024". The gallerist Diana Dochia declares: “After every ten years, I made a change in the life of the gallery, because change means evolution: 2004 - Bucharest I 2015 - Berlin I 2024 - Baden-Baden”.

The solo exhibition "Allogenic Site" consists of the site-specific installation "Out of the Black #03" and the series of drawings "000 000 0001", created between 2022 and 2024. The site-specific installation "Out of the Black #03" from 2024 was designed specifically for the Column Hall at Altes Dampfbad, with the artist stating: "In my project I aim to refute the theories about the organic interdependence between spaces and their functions on one hand, and on the other hand to bring to the public's attention, through artistic means, a series of questions about alienation and hybridization, consequences of the world and time in which we live... In my artistic work I am interested in the energy of matter, fluidity, weightlessness, illusion, predictability, as well as failure, all of which are part of the lexicon of my introspections."

The trigger for the "000 000 0001" series of drawings was physicist Niels Bohr's conclusion about quantum mechanics: "Everything we call real is created from things we cannot call real." This gave rise to a kind of "neo-pointillist" drawings on black paper in which the artist probes issues related to light as wave and particle, Plank length, hypotheses of multiple alternative realities and the possibility of 11 dimensions, according to M-theory.

Alina Aldea (b. 1974) is a University of Art Bucharest graduate. The artist has participated in major international events such as the Contemporary Art Biennale Mdina, Malta in 2020; Arte Laguna Prize Venice in 2018 or the Venice International Festival of Experimental Art in 2016 and solo museum exhibitions such as "Condition: Inside Out" at the Museum of Ages in Bucharest (2023); "Secret Garden" at the Cultural Center of the Brâncoveneşti Palaces, Mogoşoaia (2019). Works signed by the artist can be found in the permanent collection of MNAC - National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest and in important public and private collections in Germany, USA, France, Suisse, UK. Alina Aldea has been represented by Anaid Art Gallery since 2019.
