MIHAI FLOREA: FREE WILL

März 6 - April 6, 2013 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest

The “Free Will” exhibition by Mihai Florea will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, starting with 07:00 pm at ANAID ART GALLERY. Curated by Diana Dochia, this contemporary art display can be viewed from March 6th until April 6th 2013.

Mihai Florea is a Bucharest National University of Fine Arts graduate. “Eye Candy”, his first personal exhibition, took place at Anaid Art Gallery in 2011. Here the artist transposes, in a humorous yet ironical manner, the consumerist society we are part of. Although he has been part of numerous group exhibitions, Florea’s paintings keep on inciting the contemporary art viewer.

“Free Will”, Florea’s second personal exhibition, reveals an extended universe, a perception of time, space and reality. A dictum that could describe this art-show is: “Step, by your free will, beyond time, space and reality”. What is real and what is delusive? Are our feelings and experiences real or is it all resumed to what we think is real? Is time, as we perceive it today, the real time? Or is it a projection of our mind which designs events and circumstances that are not necessarily authentic? Does space offer us precise and correct positioning? Or is it just a frame of some multiple reflected realities?

“Free Will” is an exhibition about possible and parallel universes, about multiple worlds where all possible and prospective alternative theories are real. Each theory represents a “real world” or a “real universe”, underlining everything that exists and could exist.

“Free Will” represents the emergence into an alternative history that implies a sort of time travel. It is about an inter-dimensional journey through juxtaposed dimensions. This could allow one to rethink the past, to change the present or to simulate the future. The paintings and installations of this exhibition reinterpret the past with no safety belts and mentally drive the future.

Anaid Art Gallery invites you to hitchhike for a ride through contemporary art from Monday to Friday from 11 am to 7 pm, and Saturday from 10:00 am to 06:00 pm.
