März 12 - April 18, 2008 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest

Wednesday, 12th March 2008, at 07:00 pm will take place at ANAIDARTGALLERY the launch of the project "Cerebral Antagonism", curator Diana Dochia. The curatorial project "Cerebral Antagonism" it will be developed between March - August 2008, represented a program platform of initiation and presentation of Romanian contemporary art trough three exhibitions. The three exhibitions will be seen like distinct sequences, thru the putting in relation of different mediums of expressions, from the traditional medium like painting, drawing, sculpture, graphics to the new forms of artistic expressions like photography, video art, performance. The project will include also well-known contemporary Romanian artists, as the launch of a new young artist into the universe of the contemporary Romanian art. "Cerebral Antagonism" was thought as a development within an organism that fulfils an activity of opposed functions. A kind of organism that obstructs the development of other organism. A parallelism between this alive organism and the world full of contrast and contradictions in which we are living. The first exhibition "Temporal Segment" will include works by Traian Boldea, Sorana Ţăruş, András Szabó. The public interested in contemporary art will be able to visit the exhibition from 12th March 2008 - 18th April 2008.

"Temporal Segment" describes a gap in time, a fragmentation and a discontinuity, a chasm, an opening. Conceived on the "you don’t belong here" principle and illustrating situations or fragments grasped from the surrounding reality, the exhibition of the three artists, Sorana Ţăruş, András Szabó and Traian Boldea, outlines a world seen as a maze of possibilities, of parallel times in which past and future ages are interlinked.

"Temporal segment" does not outline a whole but rather a state of being, a questioning of the society we are living in, a contextualization of the artistic phenomenon in the frame of a society seized by a free oscillation between what used to be and what it will be, between back and forth. "Temporal segment" is a "possible world" born as a result of the "deconstruction of the great stories", as Jean-François Lyotard asserts.

The exhibition design it will be realized by the architect Attila Kim in the framework of the program "anaid art + architecture project", initiated by Anaid Art Gallery and Studio Kim Bucşa Diaconu.

The gallery visit hours are: Monday - Friday: 11:00 am - 07:00 pm; Saturday: 10:00 am - 06:00 pm.
