Thursday, 23rd August 2012, at 07:30 p.m. will take place at ANAID ART GALLERY the exhibition "Raving History" signed by Tara (von Neudorf), curator Diana Dochia. The audience interested in contemporary art will be able to view the exhibition from 29th August to 23rd September 2012.
Do you remember the meaning of August 23rd?! August 23, National Day of Romania, 23 years ago, was the returning weapons in the anti-fascist war. Exhibition "Raving History" signed Tara (von Neudorf) introduces us to the “glorious” period of that time through drawings and maps of communist propaganda. "Raving History" sketches what we were taught to believe and know about us. Tara (von Neudorf) offers the contemporary public the image of a ravaged world where values have been transformed, reinterpreted, cropped or over-increased to serve certain political ideals. Tara (von Neudorf) does not present an idyllic or nostalgic history, he does not make judgment values and he does not try to distance from the subject. Tara (von Neudorf) does not refer to communism to be "cool", does not use communist props - pioneer tie, the “şoimii patriei”suit, sickle and hammer - as simply decorative elements of an era, which marked and shook the Romanian history. Tara (von Neudorf) shows the history after the   criteria and the way in which a whole generation was forced to learn it.
Exhibition "Raving History" covers a wide range of works that represents: “The Patriotic beauties”, “Building “The Golden Age”, “The Day of August 23, 1944”, “Life in s.s.m.d.” (“Life in the multilaterally developed socialist society”), “Heroes of the Nation”  - legendary portraits of our rulers - Vlad the Impaler, Stefan the Great, Mihai the Brave. Then we look at the "great achievements of communism" through drawings, where we are taught social and political situation and culture of the Romanian in different eras and the "joy" of a whole people to make "patriotic work" for the benefit and welfare of the fatherland.
"Raving History" is an incisive image of a not too distant past, a fresco of a society and also a essential question mark for an uncertain future.
Anaid Art Gallery invites you to make a foray into contemporary art from Monday to Friday 11:00 - 19:00, Saturday from 10:00 - 18:00.
