TARA (VON NEUDORF): FINIS MUNDI

October 4 - November 4, 2007 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest

On Thursday, 4th of October 2007, at 19.30 o’clock in the evening will take place at ANAID ART GALLERY the opening of the exhibition “Finis Mundi” signed by TARA. Persons interested in contemporary art will be able to see the exhibition starting October 4th until November 4th 2007.

Tara, the most disputed Romanian artist and maybe, yet, the only censored from this country, as he declares, shall reopen the exhibition season from Anaid Art Gallery with “Finis Mundi” project in the frame of which he questions the contemporary world throughout the geopolitical maps. The map becomes a manipulative material on whose surface a series of characters and events from the past and from now are migrating. By offering a unitary image regarding the world haunted by the conflict events since The Creation of the world until today, Tara describes a state of conflict and unrest which permanently rules the world.

The social convulsions, the political spasms, the religious movements, the conflict as a permanent way of being and nevertheless a period of calm before the storm outlines an artistic project which somehow detaches itself from the vision with which Tara has accustomed us. Everything in his actual activity becomes more precisely outlined, settled down, enciphered and thought in a global frame, of exacerbation of the universal evil.

„Finis Mundi” puts an end and at the same time it opens a path, a new vision on the world and Earth. An Earth ravaged with fire and sword too many times, an Earth contorted and deformed by horrors, terror, cowardice, corruption.

Over all these maps the contour of the refined man of art and the eminent man of politics Samuel von Brukenthal hovers. Passionate about art, books, engravings, maps how would the baron von Brukenthal have seen Tara’s artistic demarche? Could have the baron von Brukenthal better understood the artist Tara than us, his contemporaries? Tara explores, seeks, finds, questions.  Brukenthal knows, sets up, forms a system. Tara contests the system. To some point the artist and the politician meet.

For the sixth exhibition in the frame of the program „anaid art + architecture project”, initiated by Anaid Art Gallery and Studio Kim Bucsa Diaconu, the architect Attila Kim will create a museum like exhibition of the geopolitical maps making a reference to the impressive collection of the baron Samuel von Brukenthal.

AnaidArtGallery invites you to make an incursion in the contemporary art from Monday until Friday, between 11-19 and Saturday between 10-18.
