Judyta Bernaś (PL); Małgorzata "Malwina" Niespodziewana (PL); Małgorzata Et Ber Warlikowska (PL); Monika Wanyura-Kurosad (PL) November 24, 2010 - January 30, 2011 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest "The idea of the exhibition arose from two different starting points. First of all I wanted to show diverse attitudes to printmaking as a means of crossing the borders of the techniques and modes of presentations. Traditionally, printmaking is associated with a two-dimensional print on paper, but in times of transgressions, in which we exist now, every art field is entering a phase of going beyond previously established patterns. One of the most important feature for printmaking now is to enter a three-dimensional space that was originally reserved for sculpture and environmental projects. Another is connected with this aspect of our culture that makes it open to convergence and interactivity. Some of the artists try to create space arrangements or objects that a visitor may enter or touch in different ways in order to create his or her own story. The third thing is the palimpsest like nature of contemporary culture that mirrors in some works created nowadays by the use of multi-layers compositions. Another concept - of an equal importance - was to show ideas that appear in women-artists prints that refer to different aspects of femininity, human relations and - as Judith Butler brilliantly put it - gender trouble."

TARA (VON NEUDORF): GENERATION DJIHAD
March 19 - April 17, 2009 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest "Generation Djihad" is an exhibition about the massacres of the world we are living in. It is an exhibition about war, terrorism, conspiracy, radicalism.
Deeply marked by what he reads and sees in media, by the massacres shown on TV and by the wars that simply became bloody publicity, Tara proposes a series of 60 virulent drawings addressed to the weapon conflicts of the world.
Interrogating the relationship between the victim and the aggressor, Tara can often be seen as partial, cruel, or subjective; but he is never indifferent, he can not pass as unconcerned.
No matter if we are talking about a weapon conflict, a imaginary war or about an interior anxiety, the exhibition "Generation Djihad" describes a state of mind, describes the world that we are living in and the societies that surround us. Read more -

Temporal Segment
Sorana Ţăruş, András Szabó and Traian Boldea March 12 - April 18, 2008 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest "Temporal Segment" describes a gap in time, a fragmentation and a discontinuity, a chasm, an opening. Conceived on the "you don’t belong here" principle and illustrating situations or fragments grasped from the surrounding reality, the exhibition outlines a world seen as a maze of possibilities, of parallel times in which past and future ages are interlinked.
"Temporal segment" does not outline a whole but rather a state of being, a questioning of the society we are living in, a contextualization of the artistic phenomenon in the frame of a society seized by a free oscillation between what used to be and what it will be, between back and forth. "Temporal segment" is a "possible world" born as a result of the "deconstruction of the great stories", as Jean-François Lyotard asserts. Read more -

HAREM 6 (FLAVIA MARELE & ILDIKÓ MUREŞAN): IMAGO MUNDI
October 11 - November 11, 2006 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest The exhibition "Imago Mundi" proposes a series of 18 photographs made thru a systematical manipulation of the images that remembers about the surrealist and constructivists' collages and photomontages. Photography became a malleable "material", fluid, that allows the hybridization, the metamorphosation and the multiplication of the images.
"Imago Mundi" represents a listing of scenes from an atemporal and infinite personal story. A bizarre world full of forgotten symbols in that the fish, the apple, the iconostas are enclosed to the human body as for the completed and the reinterpretation of the eternal myths. The graphic interventions, the juxtaposition of the images and symbols reflects the attractions for the allegorical details.
"Imago Mundi" represents a personal narration, a search of the identity (cultural and sexual), of the freedom. The notion of body is used like a powerful weapon of redirection of thoughts thru a series of problems preponderant socials - the violence, the abuse, and the mortal plagues. The proximity of death, the fashion photography of the "chic heroin" became artistically material drag the attention and provoking the rage. Read more -

DAN PIERŞINARU: ESSAY ABOUT PRESERVATION
April 13 - May 11, 2006 Anaid Art Gallery Bucharest "Essay about preservation" is an exhibition about photography, an introspection into the spaces of a jar. A world seen from a jar and through a jar. The jar prevails, preserves, shelters, closes, separates. The jar seen as a recipient that contains and preserves different elements around us. The jar creates the own space and the own identity, the own universe and the own life. The jar seen as a limit, as a place from where you can not escape.
The transparencies of the jar offers the connection with the exterior, the opening through world, the putting in contact with the objects that is in inside. The idea of preservation goes to the idea of revealing of samples, of capturing, of trap. One trapped into a jar, this became a place of obsessions and desires. What you can find into a jar? Newspaper cuts, photographs, apple stumps, plants, flowers, fishes, etc. It became a recipient for preservation, growing, putrefaction, observation. Read more -
